Post 5: My Future Job

 about my future work…

Since I decided to study architecture I knew I wanted to work in social housing design, in fact one of my motivations to study this career was the only Chilean Pritsker award Alejandro Aravena, among his works is the design of social housing. Now I have some criticism of his work but that only makes him a better example to learn from.

I would like to work anywhere in Chile because the design has to be linked to my own culture, hopefully in regions to learn more about the reality of the country. My idea is that the design process will be collaborative between citizens and architects and experts in the field, then the work would be largely outdoors.

There are three areas in the career that I would like to study and I think that all of them would be a contribution to perform in my dream job, housing policies, sustainability and urbanism.

I imagine that this work will be full of difficulties of different kinds, but I am passionate about the idea of providing solutions to a problem as important as access to housing.

Perhaps these last two things are related to each other because of the Coquimbo-La Serena conurbation and the long stretches under the northern sun that people have to travel on their way from home to work. Although...
