Ok this is a very interesting topic, I am a big fan of sitting down for hours and watch a well told story. From my point of view, the most interesting thing about films is that reality has some fiction and all fiction has some reality, what makes possible that we can talk for hours about whether Fletcher's treatment to Andrew in Whiplash was right or wrong.
Well this might sound like a joke because I have to choose "one you think is worth your time", and I could recommend many shorter movies but I consider this one a treasure in the ganster genre.
And the movie is… The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pecsi. The plot is based on the biographical book I
Heard You Paint Houses, The film follows Frank Sheeran (De Niro), a truck driver who becomes a hitman involved with mobster Russel Bufalino (Pesci) and his crime family, including his time working for the powerful Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino).
This is a special gangster movie to me, because the main theme is eld and loneliness which is something that no one is except, we can think about how is the old age of these great characters who used to had everything ,but time is implacable no matter power, fame, or money.
If you haven´t seen gangster movies I thinks this is a good start, because it makes it very clear who is the bad
guy in the story, even though we adore the characters and consider them too
cool.
But if you want to see other movies before…
Goodfellas馃挅
Casino
Mean streets
The departed
Ciudad de dios
Once upon a time in
America
Gangs of new York
Scarface
